Moira Lake is just south of Madoc, and there is a free boat launch in an area maintained by the Kiwanis Club.

The fishing is good even in winter, when a village of ice huts suddenly appears on the lake.

O'Hara Mill, located a few minutes north of Madoc, has an active group of volunteers who put on special events.
